Mayan artwork is abundant in Guatemala, particularly woven textiles.

I became eager to learn about the weaving process in its entirety - from raw cotton to finished product.

I traveled to San Juan de Lago to learn more about the process of picking, cleaning, and preparing cotton, and pulling it into string.

Attached find notes taken while in conversation with Nohemi from Flor de Pericon, an art collective space for unmarried Mayan women.

I have included English translations and elaborations alongside each note.
